Painter. Illustrator. Mess-maker.

My practice is a fluctuation between intuition and intent. My work exists in a constant negotiation between gesture and form, impulse and structure, familiarity and strangeness. I approach painting as both a personal excavation and a site of collective meaning-making, where fragments of memory, mythology, and the natural world merge into layered dreamscapes. Playing with composition, I am fascinated by how viewers navigate the fractured landscape, how attention moves. I work with a range of mediums including natural pigments, found items, and collage.

Based in both New Orleans and New York, Emily (Em) is currently a MFA candidate in the Art Practice program at the School of the Visual Art in NYC.
